Monday, April 25, 2005 This issue has been in my heart for so long and finally I think I'll channel my view to this post for all to see. Quiet doesn't mean timid, holding back is not backing out. For all that I know, money is what makes the world goes round. Who won't be happy if you're loaded with tons of cash. In Singapore, if you, either own the latest gadgets and stuffs OR able to have your meals at places like Swensen and Coffee Bean at a regular basis OR sport the latest fashion around, you are already considered as rich. But what irritates me is that people going around boasting about their "high standard of living" when it's not them who earn the money and indulge in these kind of life. It's not their sweat and hard work that enable them to have that stack of cash in their arms for them to sepnd lavishly. IT'S DEFINATELY NOT THEM! All they know is to ask their parents for money. Why? 'Cause they wanna buy something that they really want. And poof! The cash is in their hands and off they go to shop! Fine. I'm not jealous, why should I? But let that stinking attitude end there and then. Why must they go around telling other people that they already own this and that...blah blah blah. In the end, you'll just chuck these stuffs aside when you get something "better". You'll lose the sense of pride in the stuffs that you own, no doubt about that. I'd definately be proud of something that I buy because I earn for it. Just depending on daily expenses that Mum gives and not spending on it just to save up means a meals of Maggi Mee and whatever I can find at home and not stepping out of the house at all. But at least I experience how difficult it is to earn money, not how easy to spend it. In my opinion, owning a handphone is already advantageous enough. It's okay if you wanna upgrade to a much better phone in terms of function and quality. Sadly, to buy new models just to keep "up-to-date " can be simply put as pathetic. And they will put up a show by calling or sms-ing somebody in front of their friends before a loud "Whoa......" echoes down the room. Smiling from one ear to the other, informing how expensive it is, the feeling of euphoria suddenly strike them while camouflaging the fact that they didn't earn the money by themselves. F*** your damn big ego out of the window, man! I'm alright with Singaporeans being generous, like how they highligted in the recent call for doantions for the tsunami victims. But Singaporeans being proud, sporting outlandish lifestyle when their source of income is just from their parents simply disgusts me. Get out of my sight, I don't want any contamination to eyes. Editor's Note If you think you're deeply hurt by the article mentioned as above, then I'm referring to people like you. But if you're not, then stay the way you are now. If you wanna hate me 'cause your conscience says that your ego has been dented by my words, I'd rather congratulate myself for accomplishing my mission rather than nurse your pain. Ultimately, I mentioned no one, nobody. So, don't be stuck in the child inside you. Grow up. Be a man. |
