Saturday, April 02, 2005 Let me guess, the audience present tonight at the Miss Singapore Universe were all paid a sum of money to fill up the seats in the Caldecott Hill Broadcast Centre, right? If not, why were they so lukewarm in their responses? CEOs, managers, top position holders in well-established companies and MNCs. So what? You can't even show your appreciation to your own country's representative that's going to an international pageant to carry Singapore's name to the eyes of the world. I know, I can understand them. There were none that's eye-catching or really stood out from the rest among the top 18 finalists. I mean, I walk down Orchard Road everytime and I see pretty, sexy and atractive ladies sashaying themselves in and out of Louis Vutton, MNG and many other established and famous shops. And you say inner beauty worth more than the outer skin? I'm pretty confident that there are a handful out of the hundreds, that i mentioned above, that will make the mark.Yet, you give us the top 18 than I think an "apek" in a coffeshop will normally wolf-whistle at. Yeah, their standards are that low. Enough of the MSU issue, I'm already turned off by the judge from America's Next Top Model. Luckily locals like Mark Lee and Gurmit Singh are there to be the only bright spot of the otherwise boring and blunt pageant. At least their informality and spontaneous actions can bring some laughter to the audiences in tne studio and at home. The chemistry between them were pretty evident tonight. Thanks Mr Phua Chu Kang and Mr Lee Tok Kong! Rewind to the earlier part of the day, my friends and I were weighing the options of Playing LAN gaming and arcade when the thought of pool struck out minds. Hmmm..I didn't know the snookerium beside BREEKS! at AMK Central was better than K-POOL. Infact, I think it's the best in AMK. I always thought it was a "bad" place and have a negative impression on it. But surprise, surprise! The atmosphere was great, complete with arcade, music, pool and billard tables and a screening of magic shows or snooker games featuring the likes of legendary snooker player Jimmy White. The fun lasted for 2 hours and we played in pairs, competing against each other. Lady Luck was clearly not smiling at me today. I had the chance to kill off the game but the white ball went in together with the black one, getting free balls but they didn't seem to be too happy entering the pockets. I felt like a sore loser today but nevermind, it was one of those days. Maybe it's part of the learning cruve for me. I'll be back with a vengence, well I hope so. |
