Thursday, April 21, 2005 I really wonder something about girls sometimes. Not that they have what guys don't have, but it's more to their vanity. This is an issue which they think is normal for them as they are the fairer and less-physical sex but please, I really beg to differ. Beg to differ in a sense that their vanity seem to have no limits, not that there are metrosexuals out there who gave the word "man" a different meaning nowadays. Take for instance the all-famous Neoprints. Inspired by the same old models who posed for numerous Neoprint machines which I've lost track of, local girls also seem to copy their poses when taking pictures of themselves. Enough if they stop at Neoprint machines, it's a mental torture when they carry these poses into their everyday photos. You know that puffing-of-the-cheeks pose, the "innocent looking" pose, the acting-blur-with-big-eyes pose. Oh man.. no wonder PM Lee says we have to re-invent ourselves. Can't locals just be locals and not "foreign" locals? I'm saddened by the creativity level of the young here. Their minds seem to be pre-occupied by the fight for freedom, following trends and gossips that lead to nowhere. And oh, I almost forgot about the make-up. Almost forgotten till I saw a girl putting on tons of make-up on her face to doll herself up. Trimming and shaving eyebrows just to draw them back to make them longer and nicer, blushing the cheeks to make them rosy and just follow a few more steps and wa-lah! An Ayumi Hamsaki you will be, I hope. Sometimes, these girls are prettier than Barbie dolls I see in shelves of departmental stores. Well, it's up to you whether you wanna accept it as a compliment or insult. Make-up is essential in females but please, I've seen enough of badly done make-up to make this judgement of mine. Sometimes less is more and that natural beauty is what attracts the eyes of a beholder. For those who are hurt by this post, I'm glad you've finally realise that it's YOU who irritates my eyes. For those who aren't, keep up the originality. It's hard not to let it die. I really appreciate little stuffs more. Stuffs like being honest and respect. They are priceless compared to artificial beauty. True enough beauty is what captures the heart but it's the content of the heart that captures the true meaning of beauty. In Singapore, there are approximately 1 million females. Half of them are married. For half of the remainder, they make up the club-goers, cash-spluring and high level of vanity ladies in the society. For the rest of the numbers, you just can't seem to find them easily in the roads of Singapore. Why? Cause they are always away from the limelight and are classified as the girl-next-door. |
