Friday, October 21, 2005 (Looong entry looms ahead...) I've been busy these days that when I am free I just don't feel like blogging. It's time consuming, you know!!! But I won't go to such extremes. Blogging is very much part of my life now, though I admit it sucks. I wanna improve it but I lack the necessary skills. Shucks! Anyway, I'm back from a 3 days/ 2 nights stay in SP. No, wait. It sounds too nice, very much like a holiday trip. Let me phrase it this way, "I just came back from a camp organised by spac2go which lasted for 3 days and 2 nights." And despite the fact that the numbers were small, I was pretty soon contented by the fact that sometimes 'more doesn't necessarily mean better'. I got a shock when the year ones first assembled at the SAC foyer. I kept counting over and over again to double-confirm that the number of participants were actually THAT small! On the final count, there was only 17 of us! 17 leh! When our camp chief Cynthia, told us that we'll be divided into 3 groups, I was already sighing to myself. "HAR... 17 people also can break into 3 groups ah? Might as well put all of us into 1 whole big group!" Even my newly-made friend, Mike, agrees with me totally. And yes, he's produced locally. =) (Made him sound as if he's a product manufactured in Singapore. Hahaha!) But eventually, 3 groups there were and I was in the group 'Survivor'. Good news is, we emerged as the best overall group! Seriously, I didn't expect that to be true! All thanks to Diana and Daniel for guiding and taking good care of us throughout the camp. And not forgetting my group members too- Shah, Joanne, Jocelyn, Evangeline and Tin Wei. You guys have been great! We had games mostly throughout the first day as we tried to break the ice. I did struggle a bit as I'm not that kinda person who open up fast to new people. In fact, I still think I wasn't the real me at the end of the camp. First we had 'Treasure Hunt', which was freaking tiring lah! At one point we had to go from T1 all the way to T21! Go figure! And we waste more time walking than participating in the activities. Funny enough, I didn't feel tired even though I was fasting. I was thirsty (VEEERY!) but I had anticipated that. So, it's not really a problem for me lah. FC6 was scary with all the shops closed and lights off. It was a good thing I didn't walk through it or else... And I finally, finally after 6 months in SP, had the chance to be at FC1 for the first time ever. Should I thank you guys, spac2go seniors? Haha! I'd summarize my 'thank yous' at the end. Else, this would be an entry full of 'thanks you's. That very night, we had 'Talentime', which we were informed of very, very late! But never mind. Joanne had to call her sister, who was at home, for the full lyrics of the song that we had chosen for the 5 minute show. Our dance was choreographed in 5 minutes. I tried to, although I failed, memorize the lyrics within the time given. Our practice lasts for 10 minutes and ta-daah! Our 5 minute dance-cum-acting-cum-singing show for all. I still can't believe it that I actually sang a song in front of others. Worse of all, I like that song but don't know what's the title for it! It's an oldies but it's nice! Now I'm hooked to that song... la la la la Second day of camp was much more 'serious' with all the talks and not forgetting the SP tour of our 'state-of-art' facilities. (Okay, drop the quotes. We really do have such stuffs.) The flight and ship simulator was the best. It made me wanna change course immediately. CLS have labs to make their own perfumes and chocolates. DE had had labs for deseign purposes, which I have strong interest in but lack the background information to start off with. Blah! The Music & Audio course have their own recording studios. In fact, they have 2 drumsets and 1 electronic one! Oh my... did I make the wrong choice now? But of course my course, DMC had our very own studios for recording and filming. We even have a shooting floor, which cam across to my mind as a different thing when I was first introduced to it. And guess what! We are gonna get new Mac G5s!!! Oh man, the school is so darn freaking rich. 1 G5 can easily make me cry till my tear duct swell. Can they donate the current G4 to me? Talks after talks, which was uninteresting but yet beneficial and important. But the mood was lightened up when we started playing those 'IQ Games' which left some of us looking like a fool, including me at times. While our games aren't those Einstein-type ones, I must say you need not be clever to figure out the trick behind the 'questions'. Just open your ears, see out of the box and observe carefully. If you know how to play 'Black Magic' and 'Johnny Whoosh', you'll know what I'm talking about here. Then came the 'Nightwalk', the event I look foward to everytime. It started at midnight and ended around 430 am. I only manage to sleep at 530 and had to wake up at 830. Gosh... I was so darn shagged the very next day. It wasn't the scariest of nightwalks that I've gone through. But I did got freaked out once. Just once. My balls shrunk when one of the seniors gave a scare from behind. What more when SP is indeed 'dirty' after existing in Singapore for nearly 50 years now. It sends me shivers down my spine when I hear stories from the seniors. The red bridge, the absence of T13, the tale behind T15. There are lots more, mind you. The seniors even noticed some in broad daylight, like the booking of computers in the kiosks being done from one stage to the other when there's no admission card slotted in and obviously, no one present there. True or not? My guess is as good as yours... The bond between the seniors was great. I never seen such a close-knitted family. And to top it up, they have such wonderful characters like Jasper, Eugene and Fu Cai. If only these close bondings can be applied everywhere we go, wouldn't it be nice? As they mentioned, no power struggle to be the President of the club or whatever positions, no backstabbing. Why? 'cause there's such a thing called respect and understanding. I hope my batch can be as close as them. A camp will always be a camp. It would be possible to write everything that happened in a 100-page book but it'll bore the readers to death. No matter how much you describe, it is always best if you experienced it yourself. I'm still kinda surprised I'm being made the chairperson of the 'Residential' committee for the NYAA. Nevertheless, I'll take up the challenge and do my best. Guess I didn't make the wrong choice after all in entering spac2go. Thank you seniors, you guys are the best. Thank you all for the experience that I brought home with me. As for Shah, you're THE best 'bapok' I've ever seen in my life. You can easily beat those transexuals hands down. =) (Where are the camp pics! I want the camp pics!) |
