Tuesday, May 23, 2006 Lately, there have been many people donning jerseys to school. And I don't know why. I know the World Cup season is coming. Thanks for taking note of that even though you know nothing much about balls. But it seems that these jerseys come in uniform, no pun intended there. What I mean is that there have been a lot of SB students using jerseys as their class tee. And you jolly well know that they are year 1s 'cause...
Already today I saw a group of black jersey-ed students in the foodcourt. 5 minutes later, an orange troop marched past me. I nearly have this illusion that I'm in a stadium rather than in a school. But that is not the worse part. The scenario worsens when you see the name imprinted to the back of their jerseys. What are names for in the first place? To identify yourself, right? With that kept in my mind, I swear 3/4 of the names I saw doesn't make any sense at all. What more show, at least, who they are. Some go by the initials like 'cX', 'ghiA' and 'iM'. How would you feel if people shout from afar, 'EH, cX (cee-axe)!" Others carried their SMS/MSN habits a bit too far with names such as 'amELiA', 'j0hN' and 'BRAdley'. Am I suppose to stress those syllables that has capital letters on them? Like 'Hi, BRAdley (bra-dli)... nice to meet you!" It's fine if you wanna go ahead putting your pet name, as in NOT that of your animal companion. But for me, I guess sometimes the most beautiful things are meant to be kept simple. =) The beauty of having your class tee using jerseys is done and dusted. It used to be a privilege with brands such as ADIDAS and NIKE making people look twice at you. But now, what can I say? It's nothing but a common sight. As what CONB had taught me, it is more or a necessity rather than a luxury. I wonder which gundu would don a jersey with the name 'CHEE guan BY' at the back of it. Tell me if you see this person. I'd love to call him by the name. |
