Vesak Day falls on this very date and I'm grateful that this year, it's on a Friday! A long weekend is certainly not something you always get every year.

The funny thing is that there is existence of some people who are unaware of today's special event. I read from Min's blog that 2 Ah Bengs thought today's a holiday because it's POLLING DAY. And therefore, from that instance, I can only think of a few reasons why they are so ignorant of the things happening around them.

  • Arcades, gambling dens and pool centres have no broadcast of any type of media. And you can bet to your last dollar that they have no space for newspapers and mags either.
  • Even when they got hold of newspapers, before they can see PM Lee's triumphant face on the front page, they are already being rolled up and used as weapons.
  • Dark alleys no light, so cannot read.
  • They have lotsa ad hoc projects to do. For example, decorating the HDB flats with alphabets and numbers; practise their 'catwalk' along Orchard Road and do maths problems sums for their Maths HOD Mr. Ah Long-ge.

I swear an Ah Pek in Chinatown yesterday must have been so jealous of me 'cause I'm more handsome than he is that he used something out-of-this-world technology to get hold of my handphone number and pass it to the Filipino's Maid Association of Sin-ga-pore. 'cause when I was down at Bugis just now, I received a phone call from a private number.

The worse part of the conversation? I couldn't take part in it. 'cause the person on the other side was speaking in a language I'd classify as 'alien'. So I just answered politely 'Sorry, wrong number'.

15 minutes later another call came in, this time of a man's voice. Again, the 'alien' language was used. So I went on to do the politically-correct thing by saying 'Sorry, wrong number' again.

1 minute hasn't even passed and I received a message from this number '+6281327695***' Kinda long for a local number, so that's when my suspicion that I got a call from outer space increased ten-fold.

And the message reads,

'Bad anu ana diarep2 jko arp tlp wisdi krm apa urung?Bls'

I think I should call Robert Langdon straightaway to break what I call THE REAL DA VINCI CODE.

I'll surely be looking foward to next year's Vesak Day.
