What is a blog for?

Those who are against it will say that it is an act of exhibitionism; just wanna grab attention. Or worse still, get into the phenomena of blogging. It seems to be the 'in' thing then. But that's what separates real bloggers and those who follow fads.

I don't wanna go into details like how you write, personal or for fun, peace and laughter. Everyone has different styles. Some are dry, others make you laugh till you roll on the floor. A handful treat blogs as a direct substitute for a personal diary, while many use them for many other various reasons.

Yet for all these being brought up, many don't realise that the fact that when you criticise what other people write in their blog, you have to, in the first place, get to the blog itself. This is called voyuerism. As Ms Phyllis Peters says, everyone has this element in them no matter how small the scale is. But the worse part comes when the child in them sets in.

They saw an entry, took it personally and the very next day, becomes a hot topic over lunch.

Then comes the bitching, comes the talking-behind-the-back kinda shit. But do you actually know the TRUE intentions of the writer? No, you actually assume. And because of this assumption, you make conclusions and perceive.

And human beings, regardless of whatever differences, are egoistic. They always wanna be right. Even if they think that they're wrong, they will find a way to see the truth in what they say. Apply cognitive dissonance from CONB into this context if you want, if that ironically, satisfies your ego.

But my stand on this is that you respect what the writer is doing. People like me, who doesn't have a personal diary to start off with, finds it convenient to let your feelings out in a blog. As what lydia adlina says, "Blogging is therapeutic". (Wow, she's being quoted! She must bebetter be honoured!) Which is true in a sense actually. Sometimes you just feel down and out, and trashing things out can make you feel better.

But why on the Net where everyone can see it, you ask? Well, first of all, ask yourself this question- Why are you so nosey into wanna know what someone else does? Everyone has their own reasons. It differs between individuals. If I were to list them all, I guess it would have made up a chapter of a novel.

Personally, blogging has changed me if not the environment that I grew up in tertiary level being the greater influence. I learn so much things just from blogging alone. From doing up HTML codes to the ethics of 'What's right and what's not, online'. I dare say I also get to know about people's personality not only by viewing their blogs, but also how they respond to what's being said.

I just find it... laughable to the fact that some people are just very narrow-minded. C'mon, as they say, "Everyday is not Monday". Which doesn't only mean that things are always different everytime but also you gotta open your mind for other 'days', not 'Mondays' alone.

Of course with all these being said, do you actually notice that blog actually exerts a certain amount of influence in people? From the worshipping of Xiaxue to the extent of the gahmen actually has to touch on this topic when the elections came close then.

So grow up people. What you read may be the truth but it may not necessarily be the reality. Respect other people's decision on what they wanna do. More importantly, don't get affected by what they write/say/rant/infer.

But then again, we are human beings after all. And it's just our nature not to be perfect. 'cause nobody is perfect.

For some strange reasons or another, I'm still looking for nobody. I wanna see how perfect this chap is.

Okay, I think I just made myself sound stupid.

See, I just got something off my chest. I told ya blogging is therapeutic right, right, right?
