Superman by Five for Fighting

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me

I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train and
It's not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see

It may sound absurd, but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won't you conceed
Even Heroes have the right to dream but
It's not easy to be me

Up, up and away, away from me
It's all right; You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy, or anything

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me

It's not easy to be me

***

My Friday night was wasted by going to my secondary school's musical. It costs $12 and I say I'd rather spend that money, and chip in a little bit of extra cash, to watch 2 Hollywood-directed movies.

Nevermind if the opening act by the Chinese Orchestra was meek and retarded-looking. Nevermind if the script and storyline of the musical was nowhere near Broadway.
Nevermind if the National Library's Drama Centre reminded me of my school's lecturer theatre.

But I do mind the fact that most of the musical consists of dance items by the Modern Dance people.
And I do mind that if you take out the intermission and modern dance items, the ACTUAL musical lasts for around15-20 minutes.
And I do mind, of course, the fact that the school can't even give the us, the alumnis, just 1 pathetic, extra ticket for my dear friend who came down but didn't had the chance to catch the musical. (It's his gain anyway.)

So much things have changed from when I graduated back in 2004. No more teachers of good calibre; either transferred or retired. Discipline came tumbling down and the new generation of mats and minahs and bengs and lians rose like no one gave a damn.

School doesn't seem like school anymore nowadays. Sexy and hot teachers have been employed to teach subjects such as Chemistry and D&T. Maybe it's an act of desperation by the school to attract students to school but I certainly don't mind these kind of moves! (The Chemistry teacher is only 19 years old!!! OMFG!!!) How to concentrate like that in class??? =x

Catching up with Cat, Andrew, Jiahong and Mah ser was awesome. I totally dig Andrew and Cat's 'catfights', no pun intended. Andrew can just 'insult' Cat straight in her face and she would just laugh it off.

Cat: Look Andrew! I'm not that dark anymore okay!
Andrew: But you're still ugly what!
Cat: I know lah! I admit I'm ugly, can?
Andrew: Actually you shouldn't have told me that you've gotten fairer. Now I can see even much more clearly that you're ugly! Eyerr!!!

We even scold 'fuck you' and 'asshole' and 'knns' to each other, all with a friendly banter at heart. Of course we would know when that person meant his words. I guess I have to thank my sec school friends for opening and toughening me up.

Even now, some of my poly friends give me that shock expression when I scold a bad word. "How can you do that!?!? It's so rude!" I can do nothing but to laugh it off with good memories replaying at the back of my mind.

Saturday was another day wasted with an event down at *scape, the land behind Cineleisure. The Superband finalists came down but they all totally suck except one which I don't recall their name. The guys don't even have the looks except for those typical act cute ones! With their talent, or rather lack of it, they try to win their fans hearts with their exceptionally long hair or dance moves. Duhh!!!

Speaking of fans, they nearly made my nose bleed. Their sense of dressing... urgh!!! Plus their shrieking voices which is comparable to a Pontianak's, yikes!!! And their thick layer of make-up, goodness!!! They can easily be the female version of 'The Mask'. Now I understand the meaning of a 'daytime nightmare'.

If you wanna know what a quality performance is, look at this group:

I might sound racist and show favouritism but my opinion came after witnessing the remaining band's performances with my very own eyes. And even my Chinese friends who caught up with Superband said Juz-B was the best! I don't wanna infer why they crashed out though. There's no internet connectivity in the lock-up and I'd die without it.

Singapore Idol finalists gave me a much-needed breather, thank God. Jasmine didn't have many fans maybe 'cause the girls were jealous of her pretty looks. It's so darn obvious 'cause Hady Mirza, Paul Twohill, Jonathan and Joakim had the loudest cheers. (Joakim's birthday was yesterday, by the way.) This guy just couldn't get enough of PINK stuff!!!

Rahimah is darn attractive to me lahh... I don't think she dresses up like those punk-rocker chic when she's out but I think her overall looks can make a person look at her twice. I just hope she's not a typical minah like many others in the streets. It would be such a waste...

DMA occupied my Sunday and it's back to school once more for it's yet another Monday. 2 more weeks before exams. Jia you people!

ps. Friday is still my best day ever for the weekends! I saw chio bu after chio bu. At the musical, at Thai Express, in the train, in the bus... oh how I love my red underwear. =P
